Trees and vegetation on private property

Council regulates vegetation removal (plants and trees) from private land (freehold). The planning scheme requires a permit to clear vegetation on all private land in the shire.

It is an offence to damage or remove protected trees and plants without a permit or exemption and penalties may apply.

Clearing in a mapped Biodiversity Overlay area (Environment Protection/Enhancement or Riparian Buffer) for a house or shed will require a separate Material Change of Use permit.

Council Rules for Tree Removal

When we visit a site, we have to ask the question if they have permission from Council to remove trees.

As we are experienced, we do have a fairly good idea of what each council requires within the areas we service. We know their zoning and rules regarding removal and pruning of trees. We also know where to look to find more information. Below are links to find out about tree removal laws on the Sunshine Coast and Gympie.

If you are not sure, please let us know and we will look into it. This is all part of our service we offer our clients.

Tree lopping of high branches

Tree Felling

Cutting down, or felling a tree, can be fraught with danger and is generally something that should be left to the professionals. We have the knowledge, skills and equipment to remove trees of any size, in any location, with care.

We are specialists at removing dangerous and unwanted trees safely and efficiently without damage to property or surrounding vegetation. On sites where space is an issue or where the tree is in close proximity to buildings or power lines or a tree is considered unstable for climbing we utilise cherry pickers and cranes to ensure a safe removal.

Clearing

Our clearing services include block clearing, land clearing and service line clearing. Whether land clearing is being carried out for large scale development or maintenance purposes or for a single residential building we have the equipment and skills to perform the job.

Our wood chippers provide a very fast and effective way of recycling the trees into mulch. Mulch can then be easily removed from site or left for future landscaping.

Stump Grinding & Removal

Stump grinding and removal is the final stage of tree felling and is important as stumps can cause trip hazards, attract termites, result in regrowth and look generally unattractive.  Stump grinding equipment varies and we have a range of equipment to suit any stump ensuring a faster grinding and removal process.

Canopy Lifting

Large, low branches are fine for trees growing in parks and other open landscapes where passage under the canopy is not needed. However, in more residential settings low branches may be undesirable, obstruct visition and interfere with pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

Canopy lifting requires specialised treatment to ensure that trees are not damaged and to ensure that future growth is encouraged in an appropriate direction.
